RTI activist shot in Bihar

Patna: A Right to Information (RTI) activist was shot and seriously wounded on Friday by some assailants in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, police said. RTI activist Razi Hasan was battling for life at a hospital in Muzaffarpur, about 70 km from here. "It was a murderous attack on him," a police official said. Police have arrested two people suspected to be involved in the attack. Mahendra Yadav, an RTI activist, said Hasan was repeatedly threatened by some people after he exposed their misdeeds. "Hasan complained thrice to the local police that he was facing threat to his life but they hardly initiated any action," Yadav claimed. During the last one year, nearly a dozen RTI activists were attacked, assaulted and harassed across Bihar. Last December, an RTI activist, Ram Vilas Singh was shot dead in Lakhisarai district, while an activist was assaulted in Rohtas district last month,

Sangarsh condemns attack on teacher for using RTI in Doda

Sangarsh RTI Movement has strongly condemned the attack on RTI activist Bhag Singh Kotwal by some influential, at Doda on today. As per press release issue here by the sangarsh RTI Group the teacher Bhag Singh Kotwal of Parnote District Doda,who is serving as a master in government Higher secondary school Kandhote.has filed an RTI application to the BDO Thathri to on 20th April, inquire about the detail on of money being spent on the road and regarding the embezzlements of the funds meant for the construction of the said road, from Prem nagar to Parnote constructed by Naib Sarpanch of the area along with his brother. On last Sunday 6th of May both the locals who are involved in the construction work of the said road asked Kotwal either to withdraw his application or not to follow it as they have constructed the road and he has no authority to check it and also threatened to him of the dire consequences if he didn't withdraw it or if he did not stop asking these questions again. 
Yesterday on 9th of May when he was coming back from his school and was on his way to his home to Parnote, both the persons including the Naib Sarpanch who was under the influence of liquor stopped. Latter the victim narrated his whole story to the Police, police has also initiated the investigation to find fact. Balvinder Singh Convener Sangarsh RTI movement along with other members which includes Raman Sharma, Senior Advocate sheikh Shakeel, Advocate Diwakar Singh and Advocate Vilakshan Singh advodemands immediate intervention of the Chief Information Commission and the state government in this regard and also demanded that both State government and the commission should ensure safety and security of the RTI user in the State because both are the custodian of this law. 
Sangarsh group also demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and stern against those who attacked on the innocent teacher for using his democratic right RTI.
